Ourmedia Publisher lets any Ourmedia member publish video, audio, photos, text and software to our site. Download it below (msi for PCs, dmg for Macs; a Linux version is in the works).
- Windows: ourmedia-1.2.6.msi (6.9 MB, Windows XP and Windows 2000 only)
- Mac: Ourmedia-1.2.6.dmg (7.3 MB)
You should use the Ourmedia Publisher tool to upload files greater
than 10 MB in size. You might also decide you like this tool better
than the publish my media pages for uploading
your works.
Try it, see what you think, and send us suggestions
for improving it. After you download it, install it like any other
program and then launch it. You may want to create a desktop shortcut
or alias; we don't place start-up icons on the desktop or in your
tray.
(2) RSS media aggregator and player
FireANT is an RSS video and audio aggregator and media player created by the FireANT team. With FireANT, you can subscribe to any RSS 2.0 feed with enclosures. FireANT will automatically download fresh audio and video content for you to watch and listen to on demand. It can play back any media format, and it syncs audio files with iTunes so you can easily add them to your portable MP3 player.
Here's a screencast
of how it works on PCs.
FireANT allows anyone to share his or her original media creations
— from personal video journals made by an emerging community
of videobloggers, to the growing ranks of distributed citizen
journalists, to home video simply intended for friends and family.
It's wickedly cool — it reads text, audio
and video; it has Yahoo Video Search and a Directory; and it syncs
to iTunes and the Playstation Portable.
Just download, subscribe to video, audio, or image feeds, and
they will be automatically downloaded to your viewer for you to
watch or hear.
FireANT can be downloaded here for both Mac and Windows.
(3) RSS feeds
Every user and group now has an RSS 2.0 feed that you can subscribe
to. in the lower-left corner of their page.
Feeds for the video, audio, image and text categories can be found here:
Just subscribe to them as you would to any other feed (or channel) in your RSS news reader.
